CEO & Founder // Ayurvedic therapist and Macrobiotic chef

In nature nothing is stable, everything moves and interacts in a perfect way like a wave that flows from the ocean until the moment that we are ready to ride it, and that moment is now.

Since 2004 I became fascinated with different ways of living, by traveling and attending several cultural festivals with thousands of people from all over the world with a huge energy, which opened my doors of perception.

Being conscious that I am part of a bigger picture raised in me many inner changes, stimulating my taste for new holistic concepts, such as vegetarianism and macrobiotic food. Still today this is one of my biggest passions. I like to say, we are what we eat!

In 2008, I traveled to South America to finish my art and communication studies degree. There I found Yoga, or Yoga found me, I don’t know yet but I am sure that it brings more enlightened energy to my physical and psychological bodies.

In 2012 i was promoted to the group of the richest people in the world, because I am now the mum of a precious little girl. When the Universe is so generous with us, our role is to give back in the same way. Thus, I want to share Surf Yoga Portugal project with everyone that wants to live life deeper than simply what our eyes can see.

In 2013 I decided to go deep in my studies on Macrobiotic food and I realized a course on the Portuguese Macrobiotic Institute.

My desire to know and meet different cultures is huge, and with our trip to Morocco in the last winter I learn, share and visit some amazing spots like Chefchouen, Essaouira and Paradise Valley. I learn a lot of Moroccan food and studied Ayurveda. In 2014, i qualified myself as a Ayurvedic massage therapist with Massage and New Therapies School at Lisbon.

Live and share with everyone that you meet!

SurfYoga for all 😉

Carlos (Portugal)

CEO & Founder // Surf and Yoga teacher

Since an early age I have been travelling around the world, meeting different people, cultures and countries, as Mexico, Brasil, Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia and great part of Europe. These experiences changed my vision of the world and encouraged me to always follow my dreams, and keep on dreaming.

From 10 years old, I started to practice many sports, but one that remained from childhood was bodyboarding, which i started in Peniche, know worldwide known due to the Supertubos ASP World Tour contest. I always felt a special and really strong connection to Nature elements, and particularly with water.

The year 2007 was very important for me, due to my moving to Italy to finish my environmental studies degree. I was interested in many subjects about the human body and soul development, and by chance i experienced the practice of Yoga for the first time, and since then it has always been present in my life. In 2008, I moved to Brasil, Florianópolis, with my recent love at that time. I decided to change my boogie board for a surfboard, and started to have Yoga lessons, specially designed for Surf.

At first sight, Surf and Yoga could appear to not be related, but both are practices that promote the development of the body and the growth of the soul. My vision is that both are deeply meditative and that the benefits are infinite!

In 2012, with the birth of Surf Yoga Portugal one of my dreams has come true and now I am here to share this wonderful experience with you.

In 2013, I had the honor of qualifying as a Yoga teacher with the Swara Yoga School, certified by the Yoga Alliance.

In the winter season 2013/2014 we moved 6 months to Morocco experiencing the teaching of surf and yoga in the middle of a completely different culture, learning and sharing with the locals.

In 2014, i qualified as a Surf Coach and Life Saver with the International Surfing Association (ISA).

Let´s share some waves together 😉

Joanna (Poland)

Yoga Teacher // Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner

I have experienced my first yoga class at age of 21 in Goa, India and have since practiced many styles including Shivananda, Bikram, Acro and Ashtanga. Over the years I’ve learnt to trust the power of Yoga and it’s healing properties.

It wasn’t until 3 years ago, when I contracted Lyme Disease and dedicated my time fully to study Yoga, Yoga therapy, massage, naturopathy, dietary changes and Iridology. This motivated me to quit my life in Copenhagen and continue with Yoga and healing studies in Asia.

Since then I have received the 500RYT certification with Rishikul Yogshala in Pokhara (Nepal) and Rishikesh (India) also certifications in Thai massage from Sunshine School in Chiang Mai and in Reiki.

Through Yoga practice I got introduced to meditation and took on the opportunity to study varies meditation techniques with several teachers in Nepal, India and South East Asia. I spent 9 months living in the monastery in Myanmar volunteering and learning about the powers and importance of good actions towards others. One of the main things that meditation has taught me was how to accept myself and this life exactly for what it is and how to find peace, joy and happiness in every moment of it.

In the last 2 years I have been teaching Ashtanga, Vinyasa flows, restorative Yin, Pranayama and Meditation in Indonesia and Myanmar.

This is my first year working with Surf Yoga Portugal and I’m really excited to be a part of this team sharing my knowledge and experience with you all as a full time Yoga teacher and a massage Therapist.

In my teaching I like to keep a strong focus on alignment, bringing a full awareness to the breath and sensations of the body.

I truly believe that Yoga can make anyone stronger and more flexible, not only in the body but also in the mind. It’s a way of living and learning to love yourself and everyone around you.

I try to live my life following the Buddhist & Yoga philosophies, fully respecting the nature with it’s laws and rhythms.

Love and Light
